Campus Essentials

  • Headphones! Sometimes you have to study in a noisy area, and listening to low-fi study music can help eliminate distractions. 

  • Mini umbrella! I have to walk a long way to get to class some days, and I would be soaked without my umbrella. 

  • Water bottle or mug! Classes can be long and tiresome. Staying hydrated will keep you awake and give you something to do. 

  • Phone wallet! You probably don’t want to carry a huge purse around, so using a phone wallet, lanyard, or small wallet for your bookbag will keep your money and cards without the hassle. 

  • First aid kit! I always keep a mini one with Band-Aids, safety pins, Tylenol, and small scissors, just in case.

Getting Involved on Campus

Intramural Sports - Besides common sports, there are things like cornhole, pickleball, and co-ed sports! You don’t have to be great because it’s only for fun!  Sorority/Fraternity - There are so many different types that can be geared toward honors, service, religion, or social life.  Student Government - Make an impact on your campus and be an advocate for your peers!  Pageants - Many campuses have small pageants, homecoming courts, and ambassador opportunities.  Tutor - Impart your knowledge on another student who may be struggling! This can be a paid position, and you can make a big difference!  Library or Food Service - Get a job on campus and get tuition discounts and/or pay, along with perks!  Freshman Orientation - Volunteer to be a mentor or student advocate for freshmen and high school campus visits.
